Overview:

Are your employees truly empowered? Do they know what you want them to do and how to do it, step-by-step? What would your business be like if everyone followed your policies, procedures and standards to a tee? How would developing consistency and gaining compliance support your business growth? How do you get your employees to work independently whether they are working remotely or on site?

Here’s the truth. You want your employees to be confident and competent enough to resolve any customer related situations that may arise. As long as your employees are relying on you or others for answers, they won’t be thinking for themselves. Let’s look at the dynamic of adult learning. How do YOU learn? By doing, right? If someone shows you something or tells you, how do you think that changes your neural pathways? It doesn’t. In fact, a recent study on learning and retention at UCLA showed when you teach by telling, watch a video or listen to a podcast the retention is 3 - 7%. If you do not take any action after the lesson it disappears from our neural pathways within 16 hours!

Here’s the big shift. Make learning self-directed and physical. When an adult is physically involved in their own learning; they are thinking it through with their own brain, figuring it out step-by-step, practicing the task, perfecting the skill and preparing to demonstrate the task or skill to a peer or mentor, the retention goes up to 97%! The retention accelerates when the learner prepares to teach the peer or mentor! This works perfectly with hybrid teams!

This workshop will give you a new way of approaching training and we will share our proven learning framework so you can incorporate it into your learning system. You will discover the power of self-directed learning, engaging ways to stage a demonstration and the consistency that comes from reinforcing the behaviors that drive the results.

Why you should Attend: Without formal on boarding or training new hires are often “lost” which can send them into "hiding." During their first few days they are vulnerable and won’t come back after lunch if they feel shamed or made "wrong." This creates costly employee turnover, which is especially detrimental during the talent shortage.

If your training is ineffective or outdated, employees are on their own to interpret “what good looks like” and they are doomed to miss the target. They may drag your standards down to their own comfort level and that will cause dissention. If they don't feel important or valued they will be all out for themselves. The company suffers. The team suffers. Ultimately, the customer suffers.

Untrained or unskilled Managers often become glorified "baby-sitters." To them, training takes time; too much time. They do not delegate to anyone who may do it "wrong" or who they think “doesn't have a sense of urgency" when completing a task. Since they feel accountable for the outcomes some may overcompensate for the unskilled employees by doing all of the work themselves. This is why many Managers are on the verge of burnout. Unskilled or overwhelmed Managers can cause of employee turnover if they don’t have effective communication skills.

With over three decades of partnering with clients to create sustainable business cultures and structuring their organizations to produce empowered “stakeholders” we have proven tools and strategies. Tap into our wealth of resources!!

Areas Covered in the Session: This session will bring five new elements of training that will measurably increase your employees’ retention.

  • Self-Directed Learning: Have the employee be responsible for their own learning and accountable for their own progress
  • The Protégé Effect: The protégé effect is a psychological phenomenon where teaching others accelerates their own learning. End each lesson with a SHOW YOU KNOW to demonstrate to a peer or mentor
  • Managing Behaviors: Get everyone on the same page by communicating what “good” looks like in behaviors and making every lesson physical so the retention increases to 97%
  • Rewards & Recognition: Every time the employee “signs off” with a peer or mentor there is a celebration. The dopamine button is pushed and everyone wins
  • Build Trust & Teamwork: Everyone is valued and respected and they enjoy learning from each other. They see that they all are competent and confident and they each are making a difference
